Flourishing - a new exhibition

I'm delighted to have work included in Flourishing, a new exhibition at Oxford's Saïd Business School, curated by Art@Saïd in collaboration with the University’s Department of Biology.

The exhibition brings together nine of my paintings alongside work by botanical illustration collective Oxford Florilegium and wildlife artist Chris Thorogood. The show explores the relationships between nature, art and society - including connections with medicine, culture and sustainability.

Even more excitingly, the opening of Flourishing coincided with the 2026 Skoll World Forum, the world's leading gathering for social innovation and entrepreneurship, held annually in Oxford. This year's overarching theme was The Ecology of Us, with human flourishing as one of its key discussion points.

In conversations with the organisers ahead of the exhibition, we also talked about the relationship between creative process and academic enquiry - and how making can be another way of thinking, questioning and exploring an idea.

It's a new experience for me to see my paintings in such a shiny, business-like environment. I've shown my work in galleries and art studios, but the Anthony Hopwood Gallery has a steady stream of MBA students and academics passing through it every day. I find myself wondering how the paintings resonate with them - and whether they'll resonate differently six months from now, as people's preoccupations and work develop?

The works included in the exhibition were made outside in Cornwall, directly in the landscape, incorporating sand, chalk and other materials. They began as a very physical engagement with a particular place - and here they are, in a centre of business scholarship and academic thinking.

I'm curious about what happens when those two worlds meet.
